King size quilting patterns – Quilting has been a popular pastime for many years. Making a marriage quilt is not difficult, as long as you have all the right supplies and take your time. Quilting is a time consuming task, but it’s worth it because the quilt will last for many years and can even become a family heirloom.
Buy fabric in bulk lengths. King size comforters require fabric lengths of 107 by 108 inches. The beauty of a quilt is greater when there are fewer cuts in the fabric, in order to look for the fabric that is wide and long to reduce the amount of sewing needed. Any type of fabric design can be purchased, but some artisans prefer to buy a solid and a printed one that fits to make the quilt reversible.
Ensure adequate yards. Most fabric stores will measure the fabric for you. However, if you need to measure the fabric on your own, get a large clean table and a yardstick. Lay the fabric out by the length of the one yard yardstick. Then, take the fabric from the top of the stick and pull it down to measure a new length of the same fabric. This is the best way to measure the yards of fabric you have. Add 2 inches to a California king quilt. A California king quilt is slightly larger than a traditional marriage quilt and requires an extra two inches of fabric and batting of length and width.
