À Cros de Cagnes, Georges-Émile Lebacq, Square Pillow
This 18 x 18 inch pillow is cut from fabric custom-printed with À Cros de Cagnes, a 1914 painting/collage by Belgian artist Georges-Émile Lebacq.
The design is printed onto special paper, and then transferred onto the fabric using heat and pressure. This sublimation process creates a soft, breathable, vibrantly colored material – the pattern becomes part of the fabric, it doesn’t just sit on top of it.
The fabric is pre-shrunk polyester — soft and durable. The pillowcase is machine washable, with a concealed zipper. The resilient polyester filling insert retains its shape, and can be washed by hand. Made in USA.
During World War I, Lebacq served in the “Artistic Section of the Belgian Army in the Field”, 26 painters whose assignment was to to represent the facts of war and life at the front. He returned from the war to his studio in Brussels to find 13 years of work destroyed or stolen. He began again with a new palette and a passion for painting church interiors.
