Pink Octopus, Picture Book of Practice Sketches, Rinsai Okubo?, Tote Bag, Wheat
This tote bag is made from fabric custom-printed with a lovely octopus who originally appears as a woodblock print in the Picture Book of Practice Sketches, from Japan, done in either 1810 or 1870, possibly by an artist named Rinsai Ōkubo. She's swimming on a wheat-colored background.
These kinds of old picture books — woodblock-printed on washi paper, then folded and bound — are called E-hons, and it’s said that Japanese manga is a synthesis of the E-hon and the comic book.
The bag measures 15 x 15 inches, and uses box-style construction so it sits open for easy loading-up. Both the tote bag and its lining are 100% spun polyester weather-resistant fabric. The tough and comfortable dual handles are made of 100% bull denim cotton. Made in USA of imported fabric.
Please note that your tentacles are not going to match up exactly at the side seam!
